The movers came!

After many weeks of picking and choosing what few things we would take, and consilidating to under 30 boxes, the movers came and took our belongings. We will see them again in August or early September. After weeks of procrastination, Chris suddenly felt a sense of urgency this morning, and was rapidly packing as much as he could find. Still, he's feeling some packing remorse this evening as he walks around and finds odds and ends he "wishes WE'D packed". Since I gave him and earful about procrastination at least once a week for the past month, I am currently sticking to smiling and nodding with a somewhat blank stare upon my face in response to his "Oh I wish we'd packed...."comments.

The kids were sweet and somewhat entertaining for the two men as they carried our belongings out to their truck. Perhaps the best moment was Keira walking down the stairs behind them saying "Be careful so you don't fall" wearing a sleeveless, short dress with a winter hat. They just laughed.

We're now taking to consolidating remaining items into three categories: "Stuff that will be important/sentimental value that will go in parents crawl space" "stuff to donate or freecycle" and "trashity trashy trash."

I'm so very ready to get out of this house, as are my cabin fevered kids and Hubby.

We've booked the movers!

Yesterday, We successfully decided on and booked movers. They will be coming on Tuesday to pick up our bed and assorted boxes. It took a lot of quotes and comparison before we settled on Echo Trans World. They gave us the best rates for our stuff, and will deliver door to door.

Better yet, we booked our car shipment, and we get to keep the car until we leave! Then, goodbye for a few weeks and we should have it back at the end of August.

Our lives are incredibly busy. I have one test or another for the next two saturdays and Friday, August 1st. Chris is working up until we leave, and I'm in school until then.It seems we're never two people home at the same time, and packing alone is 1)hard, and 2)Harder with kids running around unpacking!

We'll do it though. As soon as the movers leave, I'll feel terribly happy, because I can say "OK, now the rest is trash!" and bring out the boxes for goodwill and freecycle.

T- 3 weeks!

We are working hard with little time left. In exactly 3 weeks, we'll be on the plane to Germany.

We live on a dead end street, so yard sales are difficult here. We have packed up and attended our local flea market for the past two weekends, and gotten rid of some stuff. We're listing larger items and furniture on craiglist, and hoping for a bite!

We have a shipper in mind, and will be shipping our items next Tuesday.

I am attending school, and have been in class from 8am-330pm this past week, with a couple days going to 710pm!

Chris found out that he will not be able to keep his job once we leave, so his last day is July 31. Hopefully he'll be able to find a job in Germany. He needs to learn the language first though.

We are still excited, and motivated to be ready by August!
